Brewing, Bottling, Braais and Bringing Home the Trophies!
It all started months ago when we picked up our brewing kits. From there, the real challenge began: coordinating the entire team to come together and actually brew our beer. Once the ingredients were finally in the pot, it became a waiting game for the yeast to do its thing.
There was just one problem—beer likes it warm, and we decided to brew in the dead of winter. Enter Clair and her husband, who saved the day by using their sous-vide machine to keep things warm enough for fermentation. Weeks later, we finally reached bottling day, complete with a dash of edible glitter (because if it doesn’t sparkle, is it even a festival beer?). This year we even remembered the actual flavor for the flavored beer—already a win compared to last year! Naturally, we wrapped up bottling day the only way South Africans know how: with a braai.
Festival Day: Early Birds & Big Vibes
On the big day, our team was at the booth before 10 a.m.—an hour before the event even started. The early bird might get the worm, but in our case, it got the best spot and a head start on the tastings. The tent, the decor, the booths—everything came together beautifully.
The atmosphere was buzzing, with fellow brewers, Rabbits, clients, and even ex-Rabbits stopping by. Live music played throughout the day, while visitors tasted our creations and voted for their favorites using our custom voting app.
Potjies, Sunshine & Smiles
Adding to the delicious chaos, the potjie competition filled the grounds with mouthwatering aromas. The standard this year was off the charts—huge thanks to all the chefs who spent hours perfecting their dishes.
And the Winners Are…
To top it all off, our team didn’t just show up—we showed out. We were crowned Winner of Best Beer and proudly took home the Team Spirit Mug. A huge achievement and proof of the effort, creativity, and teamwork that went into every step of our brewing journey.
By the end of the day, we had a little sunburn, a lot of laughs, and some incredible stories to share. From the glittery beer to the potjie feast, this year’s Beer Festival was a huge success. Here’s to great brews, great food, and even better company—until next year!
